Makers Mark uses soft red winter wheat to create a bourbon with a flavour that finished on the front of the tongue. The barrels are made exclusively from 100% new American Oak but before they pour the bourbon into the barrels, they require that the wood be seasoned outdoors for a minimum of nine months - which must include one full summer. This process removes the bitter tannins from the wood and enhances the vanilla flavour of Makers Mark.
Elegant. Smooth. Refined. That's what 4 years of aging in new charred oak barrels does to our bourbon. Every drop is worth the effort and we love the idea of sticking to our great-great-grandfather's recipe. 200 Years of family heritage and over 7 generations of Beam family perfecting the craft of bourbon is what makes us the world's number one selling bourbon
