About
Phantom Craft is a small company of individuals who create unique spirits & products of the handcrafted kind. Based in the coastal town of Knysna in the Western Cape of South Africa.
We started Phantom Craft with the hope to create spirits that are aesthetically unique and carefully crafted to offer flavours that pay homage to their origins. All our products are created in-house from concept and design to recipe development. We distill our spirits with Hope on Hopkins Distillery in Salt River Cape Town.
The Story of Phantom Gin
Knysna is home to the haunting beauty of Africa’s southernmost Afromontane forest. Deep within the forest a creature known only to this part of the world exists - the Phantom Moth. Phantom is named after this ghost moth and pays tribute to the wild spirits that dwell in this delicate ecoregion. From the majestic elephants whose trails are long forgotten to the slow-footed dwarf chameleon and regal Knysna Lourie to name a few. This contemporary style gin is crafted from botanicals sourced from Knysna and infused with natural fulvic trace minerals that lend to its unique earthy colour and offer you a taste of the ancient forest.
Taste the Enchantment
A celebration of 10 botanicals namely; juniper berries, coriander, orris root, angelica root, ginger, cinnamon, orange peel, lemon peel, liquorice and lion’s tail also known as wild dagga which is a wild mint species and the botanical that inspired this gin as Knysna forest is surrounded by them. Infused with fulvic trace minerals to enhance the quality of the water in the gin. The mineral, derived from ancient plant charcoal, also changes the gin to a dark amber colour like the Jubilee Creek flowing through the Knysna forest.
Tasting notes: Soft enchanting nose with juniper at the forefront with hints of the herbaceous wild mint and warming notes of citrus & spice on the finish.
