About

De Nieuwe Haarlem, carries a legend filled with bravery, adventure and perseverance. As one of the VOC’s (Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie) fleet it ploughed the oceans between continents at a time when the VOC was the world’s first and mightiest multi-national corporation. From the VOC’s headquarters in Amsterdam, it transported high company officials to far-away colonies. When it floundered in bad weather and ran aground near Table Bay in 1647 the heroic crew’s survival and exploration of the
vicinity led to the establishment of a halfway station by Jan van Riebeeck on April 6, 1652, that ultimately led to the founding of South Africa and the first vines being planted in the Cape. This wine is made from 40-year-old Cinsault bush vines, of which only ten barrels have been produced.

Product Features
  • A spectrum of blackcurrant, mulberry, cedarwood and vanilla on the nose.
  • Gentle presence of oak supports the structure of the wine rounding off the initial freshness on the palate.
  • Grapes were sourced from vineyards in the Malmesbury area, on clay-loam soil.
  • Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks with regular pump-overs. The wine was aged in 225L French barrels with 20% new oak.

Dreams are weird

They're like your brain's way of saying: you know what the world really needs? Nonsensical story lines that nobody questions and flying cars.

And even though we know they're absolutely bonkers and possess zero relevance whatsoever, we waste no time telling people all about them.

Sad fact: nobody wants to hear it. There is only one dream worth talking about, and that's Martin Luther King Jr's.

Anyhoo, last night we had a dream where we featured half off tickets to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers live at the Department of Home Affairs. They weren't even performing. They just worked there. Crazy, huh?
