The Great White Rum
We do not add any sugars, chemicals or artificial flavourants. Our rum is double distilled making it very smooth. This allows you to drink it on the rocks or in your favourite cocktail. It is truly an authentic craft rum. It also plays nicely with a variety of mixers, including many tonics, lemonade, and ginger beer.
The Distillery
At Cape of Storms Distilling Company, we are pioneering a completely new rum-making method in South Africa. By combining a centuries-old Caribbean rum-making technique with naturally strong African blackstrap molasses, we have created a truly unique product.
The local rum selection has always been very limited and with the craft gin and craft beer industries having taken off, we felt it was time to educate South Africans on what rum can truly taste like. The rum industry is about to be taken by storm!
At our distillery we believe in honesty and as such do not use mass-produced neutral spirits to make our craft rum. Nor do we use any artificial additives or sugars to alter the flavour of the final product.
Our rum is fermented using only 4 ingredients; molasses, water, yeast and yeast nutrients. This ferment is then distilled using our big 760L still, affectionately known as “Big Jack”. Our rum then undergoes a second distillation in “Little Elaine”, our 100L column still. Finally, the rum is bottled on site.
Tasting Notes
When drinking our rum straight, one gets a distinct tropical fruit taste on the front of the palate. This is followed through with a robust and lasting warm rum flavour on the sides of the palate. Also immediately apparent is the smoothness. Overall there is a natural sweetness to the rum, making it pleasant to drink in a variety of ways.

Ours is about 3 feet by 3 feet, and on our left is the account's block. The marketing block is down the hall.
We're joking. Obviously.
Ours is at least 5 by 5, and on Wednesdays we're allowed to write in coffee shops to maintain the illusion that we're "successful" and "writerly".
Coming up with a write up for the simple sake of a write up does, however, become difficult when we're staring complete lack of creativity right in the face. But apparently asking management to cancel all the deals for the day isn't a viable fix.
As they so delicately put it, it'd be like a comedian having the option to suddenly cancel a show if they're not feeling up to it. Not on our watch, they said. You'll do a write up whether you like it or not, they said. And be funny, they said.
So here we are, doing a write up and being funny.
