About

This is a special older vintage which has been matured in optimal conditions by the Distell Vinoteque at Die Bergkelder in Stellenbosch.

Nederburg’s story started in 1791 when German immigrant Philippus Wolvaart acquired 49 hectares of land in the Paarl Valley. He named his property Nederburgh, in honour of the VOC commissioner, Sebastiaan Cornelis Nederburgh. Later, the ‘h’ was dropped from the spelling of the farm’s name and it became Nederburg as it is known today. The beautiful thatched and gabled Cape Dutch manor house that Wolvaart completed in 1800 is a national monument today.

Product Features
  • Awards: Double Gold Medal & Cabernet Trophy International Wine & Spirits Challenge, Gold Six Nations Wine Challenge, Gold Global Cabernet Sauvignon Masters.
  • The wine was matured in a selection of 100% new French oak barrels for a period of 31 months.
  • After meticulous barrel selection, the chosen combination was blended into one barrel and prepared for bottling.
  • Scarlet red in colour.
  • Elegant, ripe black berried fruits with a touch of tobacco leaf and cigar box from oak maturation.
  • This stellar vintage impresses with its silky texture and its superb equilibrium of fruit, integrated oak and acidity.
  • Harmonious, classical and refined, the layered, svelte mouthful lingers long.
  • Delicious with carpaccio, coq au vin, roast lamb, beef and venison.

Humble bragging. How is this still a thing?

You know the type. They'll say something along the lines of "I really miss my old Chevy Spark. This Audi SUV is so much harder to park."

Rest assured they don't miss that Chevy AT ALL. They just want you to know that they spent truckloads of cash on the latest Audi, but they want to come across as really casual because somehow that makes them cooler. Or something.

You'd think the complete lack of any complimentary responses would put an end to this type of self-appreciation, but if anything it's happening more and more.

We'd love to come up with an effective solution to it (honestly, it's what the world needs) but we're waaay too busy running a successful eCommerce company to actually invest the time.

Did you know we're also getting our PhDs on the side? No big deal.
