About

To understand the story of Thokozani, it is necessary to go back to the beginning. The year was 2005 when, Diemersfontein Wine & Country Estate Owner, David Sonnenberg, approached Denise Stubbs, saying: “Denise, we don’t really have a plan, but how can we change the lives of our community; this Diemersfontein community.” This little sentence planted the seed for one of the finest examples of successful Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) in the Cape Winelands.

Product Features
  • Awards: Double Gold National Wine Challenge, Gold Michelangelo.
  • SMV: Shiraz, Mourvèdre, Viognier.
  • The Mourvèdre was racked to barrel after malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels and the Shiraz into tanks fitted with 100% new American oak staves.
  • The Viognier component is from a small batch of natural sweet Viognier, adding a fuller mouthfeel and fruit to the wine.
  • Smokey bacon, butterscotch, vanilla and sweet black fruit with spice follow onto the palate, and a savoury mix of fruit and mocha with silky tannins to finish.
  • Pair this wine with rich and hearty meat dishes or a traditional South African braai.
Product Specifications
  • Alcohol by Volume: 14%
