During the 90’s Clos Malverne made significant inroads into the wine business, increased its vineyard plantations, which included Pinotage for the first time. Other red varietals, including Merlot and Shiraz, were also planted on selected sites with specific soil compositions to ensure the growth of premium grapes.

3x Chardonnay 2022
- The grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness.
- They are then destalked, crushed, and pressed.
- Thereafter, the wine is inoculated with a selected yeast strain.
- Fermentation and maturation take place in French oak barrels on the fine lees for a total of 3 months.
- After fermentation, the wine is filtered and bottled.
- This lightly oaked chardonnay was in wood for only 3 months.
- The subtle hint of combined French and American oak allows the citrus flavours to stand out with hints of vanilla.
- Ready to be enjoyed now or in a year’s time.
3x Devonet Shiraz 2022
- The grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness.
- They are then destalked, crushed, and fermented for 7 days on their skins in open fermenting tanks.
- The average fermentation temperature is 25 – 30 °C.
- After fermentation, the skins are pressed in traditional basket presses.
- The free run and pressed juices are combined, and malolactic fermentation spontaneously takes place in the tank.
- Now the wine is racked and undergoes oak maturation for 6 months.
- After maturation, the wine is fined, filtered, and bottled.
- The wine has a deep ruby colour. It has notes of white pepper and cloves on the nose.
- An elegant wine with juicy tannins.
- To be enjoyed now, but can be aged for another 2 – 3 years.
