De Krans Wine Cellar is situated along the upper reaches of the picturesque Gamka River Valley in Calitzdorp in the Klein Karoo. The rich and long history of the farm dates to 1890, when it was bought by the Nel family. The current cellar was built in 1964 by Chris Nel and his brother Danie. De Krans was the first in South Africa to produce a Touriga Nacional as a dry red wine.

• Awards: 4.5 Star Platter, 93 Points Tim Atkin.
• Previous vintage awards: 4.5 Star Platter, Double Gold National Wine Challenge, 93 Points Tim Atkin.
• After malolactic fermentation, the wine is pumped into 2nd and 3rd fill French Oak barrels and left to mature for 12 months.
• Dark red plum in colour.
• Full fruit aromas of raspberry, prunes and mulberries, with hints of dark chocolate and spice.
• Full-bodied with flavours of violets and dark fruit with savoury notes. 
• Well-structured tannins and balanced integrated oak.
• Works beautifully with venison and ostrich steaks or ostrich pies, roasted leg of lamb or beef fillet.
