About

Mooiplaas Wine Estate and Private Nature Reserve boast a pristine natural beauty. Owned and managed by Tielman and Louis Roos, the Mooiplaas vineyards lie on steep slopes of ancient mineral-rich soils in the Bottelary Hills of Stellenbosch, overlooking Cape Town. Mooiplaas is a historic and traditional working wine estate, bought by Nicolaas Roos in 1963. He was joined by his two sons Tielman, viticulturist, (1980) and Louis, winemaker (1983). They celebrated 50 years on the farm in 2013. The history of the farm dates back to 1806, with the manor house on the estate – a national monument – an impressive example of Cape Dutch architecture.

Product Features
  • Award: 91 Points Tim Atkin.
  • The Mooiplaas Pinotage is a medium-bodied wine with a deep purple colour.
  • The nose is reminiscent of plums, which is typical of this unique South African variety, while the palate is rich and full with a long finish. Characteristics of sweet red cherries, with floral hints.
  • Overall the wine is soft, juicy and approachable.
  • This wine should evolve well over time, with ample structure and concentration to age well for 8 to 10 years.
  • Pair with roast chicken, Cape Malay spiced dishes, roast pork, roast lamb, pizza & pasta dishes. Pinotage also works particularly well with flame-grilled meats.

Writer's block.

Ours is about 3 feet by 3 feet, and on our left is the account's block. The marketing block is down the hall.

We're joking. Obviously.

Ours is at least 5 by 5, and on Wednesdays we're allowed to write in coffee shops to maintain the illusion that we're "successful" and "writerly".

Coming up with a write up for the simple sake of a write up does, however, become difficult when we're staring complete lack of creativity right in the face. But apparently asking management to cancel all the deals for the day isn't a viable fix.

As they so delicately put it, it'd be like a comedian having the option to suddenly cancel a show if they're not feeling up to it. Not on our watch, they said. You'll do a write up whether you like it or not, they said. And be funny, they said.

So here we are, doing a write up and being funny.
