At Kara-Tara, we focus on hand-crafting Pinot Noir and Chardonnay—classic Burgundian varietals—from cool-climate vineyards in the Western Cape.

Our mission is to make elegant wines which are modern in profile—fresh and redolent of vibrant fruit. By sourcing premium grapes from diverse cool-climate regions such as Elgin, Overberg, Durbanville, and Stellenbosch, we aim to showcase the potential and quality of South Africa’s top grape growing sites.

Carefully considered vineyard variables such as soil type, elevation, microclimate, and rainfall inform the winemaking process. The hand-harvested grapes are vinified at our cellar in Stellenbosch; crafted using traditional methods, with minimal intervention and careful barrel maturation in French oak.

• Light to medium in body, it is beautifully balanced with fresh acidity and soft, well-integrated tannins that lend elegance and finesse to the finish.
