About
This is a special older vintage that has been matured in optimal conditions by the Distell Vinoteque at Die Bergkelder in Stellenbosch.
Fleur du Cap (French for “Flower of the Cape”) is greatly inspired by the Cape Floral Kingdom – a wildflower region famed for its natural beauty and rich biodiversity – with each species blossoming in the specific soil and climate best suited to their needs. It is this Cape Floral Kingdom that has greatly inspired our wines to not be defined by a single place or vineyard. Our philosophy is based around the freedom to explore – to find our grapes where they grow best, rather than be constrained by district, farm, climate or even vineyard.
Product Features
- Awards: Gold Michelangelo, Gold Veritas.
- Fleur du Cap Laszlo 2018 is a rich, powerful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec.
- After fermentation, and a gentle pressing, the different varietal components were put into a combination of 1st and 2nd fill French oak barrels where the wine underwent natural malolactic fermentation.
- The wine was subsequently racked and matured in the same barrels for 24 months.
- Rich, full-bodied wine.
- It shows intense aromas of cherry and red plums with hints of pencil shavings that develop into tobacco notes.
- The lush but firm tannins with ripe fruit flavours follow through onto the palate.
- Although the wine is very rich and appealing, it has wonderful length and aging potential.
- Enjoy with red meat dishes.
