The Cape’s first farm, established in 1682, has come a long way from its humble beginnings. Just 20 minutes from the bustling heart of the Mother City, Steenberg feels miles from the world. Graham Beck bought Steenberg Hotel and Steenberg Winery in April 2005. Steenberg Hotel has since flourished into a complete luxury destination, with two fine restaurants, an award-winning winery, a championship 18-hole golf course, illustrious private homes and a world-class spa set amongst the estate’s astounding natural landscape.

1682 Chardonnay Cap Classique
- Awards: Amorim Cap Classique Challenge Award, Gold Veritas, 4 Star Platter.
- The Brut 1682 Chardonnay is a blanc de blanc and made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes.
- It is made in the traditional French method and as such is designated Cap Classique.
- Post-fermentation, the bubbly was aged on its yeast lees for a minimum of 12 months up to 18 months.
- Pale lemon in colour, and has a delicate mousse.
- It exudes freshness and pure fruit on the nose, vibrant notes of Granny Smith apple, candied lemon rind and white peach.
- It is lively on the palate, displaying finesse and complexity with a crisp acidity.
- Flavours of lemon cordial, honeyed nectarines, toasted croissant and pistachio are evident on the palate. It has a long, yet refreshing finish.
- This Cap Classique is the quintessential drink for all occasions, enjoy as an aperitif, or pair with oysters.

1682 Pinot Noir Cap Classique
- The Brut 1682 Pinot Noir Cap Classique is made in the traditional French method and is designated Cap Classique.
- Once the base wine is stabilised, it is fermented a second time in the bottle under crown cap.
- This second fermentation creates the bubbles or mousse.
- Post-fermentation, the wine was aged on its yeast lees for a minimum of 15 months.
- Fresh with fruity aromas of raspberry jelly, wild strawberry sorbet, red apple skin and toasted brioche.
- The wine has a very fine mousse that lifts the raspberry-like aromas and is balanced well with a creamy texture and bright acidity with a lingering dry finish.
- Enjoy in its youth or cellar for 3 to 5 years to promote a more savoury flavour development.
- Enjoy on its own as an aperitif, or pair with various tapas dishes.
