Lieben Cabernet Franc 2017 unfolds ripe red fruit and violets on the nose with a layered palate of robust cassis, subtle cedar, cigar box and sweet spicy notes resulting in an aromatic wine with velvety tannins and a smooth finish of dark berry fruit and hints of dark chocolate. Our Cabernet Franc grapes are sourced from vineyard pockets in the Franschhoek Valley where some of the countries finest Cab Francs are grown. The Grape is steadily becoming known as one of the countries great varietals and is something I believe has a fantastic future considering our growing climate. A fantastic choice if you're looking to try something a bit different or if you enjoy your juicy, fuller reds.
The wine is singing at the moment but you can give it another 3-5 years if you wish to experiment with cellaring.
Food pairing
Greek lamb chops, plenty of olive oil, oregano, coarse sea salt, black pepper, lemon juice and a heavy hand of garlic. Ideally seared for four minutes per side on the braai. Kameeldoring.
