About

Pack of 3 Vitamin C (90 caps each)

This type of vitamin is probably better known and more widely used than any other nutritional supplement. As early as 1742, lemon juice was known to prevent scurvy, a debilitating disease which often plagued long-distance sailors. But not until 1928 was the relevant component in lemon juice identified as vitamin C. Today, interest in vitamin C is based less on its ability to cure scurvy than on its potential to protect cells. It is the body’s primary water-soluble antioxidant by helping to fight the damage caused through unstable oxygen molecules called free radicals, especially in those areas that are mostly water, such as the interior of cells.

It has many benefits, supports a variety of the body's structures and is essential to the formation of bones and teeth. Humans, unlike most other animals, do not create their own vitamin C, and need to obtain it daily through foods rich in this vitamin. Our buffered form of Vit C (Ca ascorbate) ensures that the pH is stable even in large doses and also minimizes gastro intestinal discomfort. A severe vitamin C deficiency can cause scurvy manifesting in loose teeth, haemorrhages, bruising, an inability to fight off infection, mild anaemia, and bleeding. If not treated, it can prove fatal. Vitamin C is present in many fruits and vegetables, especially citrus fruits, but most people do not eat enough of these foods to reap the many benefits of vitamin C. For this reason, it should added as a supplement to the diet.

  • Helps to strengthen the capillaries (tiniest blood vessels) and cell walls.
  • Prevents bruising, promotes healing and keeps ligaments (which connect muscle to bone), tendons, (which connect bone to bone) and gums strong and healthy.
  • It also aids in producing haemoglobin in red blood cells and assists the body in absorbing iron from foods.
  • Some scientists believe it can be used in the treatment of cancer and heart disease because of its antioxidant properties and studies have shown that low levels of this vitamin are linked to heart attacks.
  • Vitamin C can block the effect of inflammatory substances produced in response to pollen and other allergens.
Dosage
  • 200mg of vitamin C daily to receive maximum benefits.

If you were ever wondering...

...what provides the inspiration for these write ups, today's your lucky day. You're about to find out.

99% of the time it's the products. Unsurprising. But also so very corporate and predictable. And we hate that. So once in a while we like to draw our creativity from elsewhere, such as:

If E is the most common letter in the English alphabet, why is it so particular? Surely it should've been shaped like an I, just a single straight line? It seems excessive to have to draw the extra three horizontal lines, when really it could've been avoided.

If you know the answer, as in really truly know, please write to us at EisshapedlikeEbecause@onedayonly.co.za

Otherwise enjoy thinking about that too for the next three or so years.
