As is usual for a cool climate wine, this Sauvignon Blanc from Uitkyk Estate exhibits herbaceous notes of figs and green pepper with underlying litchi and passion fruit notes. A light dryness can be found on the palate accompanied by vibrant melon and other tropical flavours. An acidity is also present, lending zestiness. Pair it with fresh salads, oysters, mussels, sole, cob or calamari. It will also go well with olives, creamy vegetarian pastas, fried chicken and cold meats. The 2012 vintage won a bronze at the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show.
