Since 1945…
Stellenbosch Hills is an established player on the South African wine scene, celebrating more than 70 years of winemaking excellence and industry experience.
The first farms in the Vlottenburg area of Stellenbosch was allocated in 1707 (by the then Governor of the Cape of Good Hope, Simon van der Stel) to two farmers, Gerrit Hanseret and Pierre Rochefort. It is widely accepted that the first farming activities, which includes grape growing, started in 1707 in the current Stellenbosch Hills area.
In 2003 Vlottenburg Co-op became Stellenbosch Hills to reflect the broader spectrum selection of terroir (beyond Vlottenburg), including some of the world renowned Stellenbosch region’s most exclusive vineyards.
At Stellenbosch Hills we are proud of our rich history and heritage, and dedicated to the task of continuing to make affordable, internationally celebrated wines.
Tasting Notes
Stellenbosch Hills Chenin Blanc is star bright with a slight green hue. An abundance of tropical fruit flavours in particular pineapple, apricot and granadilla. Mineral characters on the nose. Serve chilled.
Food Paring
A very versatile wine, enjoy with spicy prawns, grilled fish, chicken-a-la-king and pasta.
The Harvest
The grapes all come from the Lynedoch area, and were harvested at optimum
ripeness to preserve the tropical fruit flavours in the wine.
In the Cellar
No skin contact took place, only free run juice was used for the making
of this wine, and the wine was cold fermented.
Ageing potential
Enjoy now or within two years from vintage
Seven whole years. You'd expect us to plan ahead, have stuff standing by weeks in advance and never run into deadlines.
But nothing could be further from the truth - although it's mostly unexpected and amazing deals that pop up a day in advance and throw proverbial spanners in equally proverbial works.
So. It's late in the afternoon. We're all keen to go home but we still need to write a blurb for these epic deals before we can kick off our work shoes and commence our couch-and-series time.
Here goes: Sorry. Gotta run.
