What's the hubbub?

There are certain phrases that always come across a certain way, regardless of how you meant for them to come across.

For example, no matter how kind you intend to sound while saying it, there's no polite way to say 'I wasn't talking to you.' Nor is there a way to say 'Upgraded to stage 6' without sounding like all the hope has left your heart.
