About

Afternoon is an independent sewing pattern label based in Cape Town. We create beautiful sewing patterns for the modern maker.

Our Philosophy

At Afternoon, I see sewing as a beautiful way to get in touch with what it means to make something. The feel of the fabric, the assembly of parts, the hum of the machine – these are the experiences that bring us a connection with our clothing.

Our Patterns

Inspired by classic silhouettes, each sewing pattern is carefully crafted, and designed to take you through each step of learning how to make your own clothes. With each pattern, I hope to bring the love of sewing to a new generation of makers.

Amy Skirt

Skill Level: Easy

The ultimate waist-hugging midi-skirt sewing pattern featuring a gathered waist, side seam pockets and an invisible zip closure at the back. Make it in every colour and pattern for summer!

Lyra Top

Skill Level: Easy

The Lyra top is your new favourite wardrobe staple. With no buttons or zips to get to grips with, she's a simple, elegant crop-top for everyday wear.

Make yours in crisp cotton for chic structure, or go bohemian with a floaty rayon challis.

Here at OneDayOnly we pride ourselves on two things:

Our remarkable ability to remember quotes from practically any movie, and our skill in catering to almost any person in South Africa.

The latter is the harder of the two, because A) we haven't met everyone in the R of SA and 2) our personal tastes can hardly be used as a benchmark for things other people may enjoy.

Still, through sheer determination and never-miss-an-episode viewings of Egoli and Generations, we like to think we hit the proverbial nail on the head more often than not.

And in the almost unfathomable event that we're completely wrong and nothing on our cyber-shelves appeals to you, we'd like to leave you with the following gem from Lord of the Rings:

"Use the force, Harry." - Edward Cullen.
