About
The Saxenburg Guinea Fowl Red 2017 is a classical South African, Bordeaux styled blend. It is medium-bodied and approachable, but with beautiful concentration and length. Enticing notes of dark cherries, plums and spice on the nose, with soft tannins on the palate.
Product Features
- Picked at optimal ripeness and fermented in open-top tanks at 28'C.
- Punching down and pumping over four times daily, were followed by some skin contact after fermentation.
- Malolactic fermentation occurred spontaneously in tank, after which the wine was transferred to barrel.
- Oak maturation: The components were matured separately in 3rd and 4th fill, 300L, French oak barrels for 12 months.
- Decomposed granite, with some ferricrete on West and South-West facing slopes.
