Hartenberg is nestled in a valley on the free-draining, north-eastern slopes of the Bottelary Hills. Vineyards face north, west, and east, with varietals planted to take advantage of either morning or afternoon sun. There is a difference in altitude of some 250 meters between the northern and southern vineyards.

- Barrel Aging: 21 months in 30% new French oak, 40% 2nd fill and balance 3rd fill French oak barrels.
- Initially, the nose shows an abundance of black fruits and sweet spice aromas, later opening up to a more savoury, umami character.
- The palate continues this profile with enchanting, voluptuous biltong flavours and fine, grippy tannins that allow for a lingering spicy finish.
- Great pairing with a delicious homemade beef burger with grilled cheddar topping, Karoo lamb, or mushroom risotto.
