About

When Maya Angelou died at the age of 86, her fans and readers from all over the world mourned. But they remembered the many gifts this phenomenal woman gave us - her voice, her laughter, her spirit, her style, her inspiration and her wit - which thrilled and encouraged us all.

Rainbow in the Cloud

Since the publication of her first autobiography, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, Maya Angelou has been celebrated as one of America's most important writers and her words are indelibly imprinted on the hearts of millions.Inspired by the woman who has inspired us all, Rainbow in the Cloud offers nearly 300 of Dr Angelou's wonderful quotes, organised in themed sections (including art, love, spirituality, womanhood, and life in the American South) - from sage advice and beautiful stanzas to humorous quips and pointed observations - drawn from each of her published works and from her celebrated (and much shared) social media posts. This collection also features special words of wisdom she shared often with her family, chosen by her son, Guy Johnson.

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

The first of five volumes of autobiography describing Angelou's often traumatic life is written with the pen of a poet who never loses her courage, resilience and optimism. Her story opens with her brilliantly evoked childhood in the American South of the 1930s, and the birth of her son shortly after graduating from High School. She goes on to describe her years in the slums of San Francisco, the lucky break which led to her transformation into a successful singer and dancer, her moves into writing and politics, and the relationship with her son Guy.

Home sweet home

Today's deals are a collection of things you see at friend's houses and really want, yet never seem to find them for sale anywhere no matter how hard you look.

You have two options. You can either buy 'em right here and now, or you can continue with your plan to steal the desired object from your friend, because "it'd look way better at your house anyway".

We recommend the former, and not just because it'll put bucks in our pocket. Crime is not the answer. Plus you'd never be able to have that person over for fear of being caught.

This way not only can you invite them round, but you can also enjoy the shock on their face when they realise your little summin'-summin' is just that bit nicer than theirs.

Eat your heart out, Joneses.
