Boutique wines from Durbanville
The fertile Durbanville soil, quality of the dry-land Merlot grape, as well as the high rainfall, warmer summer days and cooler nights all contribute to the quality of Maastricht wines.
Hand-picked grapes at full phenolic ripeness were fermented in open fermenters; punched through every 3 hours. Malolactic fermentation took place in tank before the wine was racked into 225L French Oak barrels. Minimum fining and filtering were done before bottling.
A great example of cool-climate Merlot. The nose shows hints of the spicy characteristics of the variety but is complemented by dark berry fruit flavours. The influence of French oak plays a supporting role and does not overpower the wine, allowing the fruit to shine through. These flavours follow through on the palate, finishing with a juicy and elegant mouthfeel, typical of the Durbanville area.
That's more than 1000 in dog deals. Or 20. We can never remember which way round the math works.
But what we can remember is this irrefutable nugget of truth: more deals means more sales a greater selection for our beloved customers and therefore a higher chance of finding something they like.
Happy shopping!
