An increasingly hard to find whisky, J & B JET 12 Year Old is a now-discontinued blended scotch whisky. This blend marries together 32 different grain and malt whiskies, each with a minimum age of 12 years.
Compared to the ordinary J&B this bottling is a big step up, with a real complexity and depth of flavour. The extra age adds layers of oaky spice and richness, with an underlying maltiness and cereal sweetness that ties the whisky together beautifully.
JET’s name probably refers to the jet-black glass used to make the bottle, but it is an apt title considering the powerful flavours of this whisky.
Our remarkable ability to remember quotes from practically any movie, and our skill in catering to almost any person in South Africa.
The latter is the harder of the two, because A) we haven't met everyone in the R of SA and 2) our personal tastes can hardly be used as a benchmark for things other people may enjoy.
Still, through sheer determination and never-miss-an-episode viewings of Egoli and Generations, we like to think we hit the proverbial nail on the head more often than not.
